What Is Wrong With Notre Dame?

An elite school deals with being a second-tier team
Not as tough as we thought you were.

As an avid Penn State fan, I have to admit, its hard to see Notre Dame doing what they're doing. It's hard to root for a foe so engrained in your college football history but lately Notre Dame has been anything but a foe.

When Notre Dame was in the top 10 or even in the top 25 it served the best interest of teams playing them out of the Big 10 and Pac 10. Now, however, they are merely revelant squeaking out wins against San Diego State, Navy and recently losing to Syracuse-all mediocre programs.

Whats even more worrisome is that Notre Dame still fails to play in a conference. The Big 10, Big 12, and the SEC have a certain style of play in their respective leagues. Notre Dame isn't subscribing themselves to any specific model that is making their program a run and shoot scheme.

Past Notre Dame teams were ones to hate. An elite program with a rich history that would take over games. They played a rough, blue-collar style of football. Those days are long gone but not forgotten. They will need to give scholarships away to kids who buy into the program with a new coach handing them out.
